Future Cities Programme
Projects Designed for Partnership
Oman’s Future Cities programme represents a sovereign-backed portfolio of fully funded, timetabled, and internationally designed urban developments that collectively redefine the Sultanate’s next phase of growth. These are not conceptual masterplans – they are structured delivery frameworks supported by government commitment, regulatory clarity, and globally recognised design partners.
Across new cities, regeneration districts, coastal destinations, and metropolitan planning frameworks, the programme integrates sustainability, smart infrastructure, mobility, tourism, innovation, and mixed-use development – aligned with Oman’s long-term national vision and economic diversification strategy.
Portfolio Overview
- Sultan Haitham City: A flagship integrated new city for 100,000 residents, anchored by transit-oriented neighbourhoods and innovation districts.
- A’Thuraya City: A globally designed coastal destination city blending heritage, tourism, and luxury living.
- Al Khuwair Downtown: A transformative urban regeneration project reshaping Muscat’s city centre into a walkable commercial and cultural hub.
- Future Salalah City: A climate-responsive coastal development leveraging tourism, logistics, and unique environmental assets.
- Greater Muscat Structure Plan: The strategic metropolitan framework ensuring infrastructure coordination, land-use clarity, and long-term regulatory certainty.
